About Courtney

Meet Courtney: Co-Founder, Book Lover, Cozy Escape Curator
Cozy Girls Getaways was born from a love of connection, quiet joy, and the magic that happens in women-only spaces. With a background in public health and patient advocacy, Courtney has dedicated her career to ensuring that every voice, especially those often overlooked, is heard, valued, and included.
As the founder of Firak Consulting Group, Courtney brings inclusive strategies to healthcare organizations, ensuring that insights from people with lived experience are integral to every healthcare conversation.
At the heart of her work is a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves to feel seen, supported and empowered. That same ethos inspired the creation of Cozy Girls Getaways. A space for women to pause, reflect, and just be.
Through carefully curated retreats, Courtney crafts cozy escapes where women can step away from the noise of everyday life and sink into a world of comfort, connection, and companionship…and of course, the pages of a really good book.
When she’s not planning the next dreamy getaway, you’ll likely find her catching up on the latest British procedural, listening to true crime podcasts, strolling endlessly with her rescue pup Gemma, or spending cherished time with her beloved family.
Join Courtney and the Cozy Girls community for a retreat that feels like a warm hug and a deep exhale.
Learn More About Courtney
First Book Memory
Sobbing on the floor of my bedroom after finishing Oliver & Company. I was 8 or 9 and wrecked. That was the moment I realized books could break your heart in the best possible way.
Favorite Literary or Fictional Character
Holly Golightly tops the list. I first encountered her through Audrey Hepburn’s iconic film, but the Truman Capote novella dives deeper into Holly’s fierce independence and has a more realistic ending.
And if we’re talking all-time favorite fictional characters: Elle Woods, no contest. Bend and snap forever!
If You Could Live in Any Fictional World
Take me to Narnia! I’m ready for the talking animals, enchanted forests, and teach with Mr. Tumnus.
Preferred Reading Format
I used to be a Kindle girl, but then I discovered Book of the Month and fell head over heels for hardcovers. I still love a good audiobook, both fiction and non-fiction, and usually always have one book in my ears and one on my bedside table.
Favorite Genres
Give me a juicy mystery or thriller, literary fiction, a bit of historical fiction, and the occasional smart romance. Most of my reads are written by women, about women. Those are the stories I connect with the most.
TBR Pile Status
Out of control. Honestly? Probably over 50 books. I love being surrounded by stories I haven’t read yet. And once I do, I’m all about passing them along to a friend or donating them to the library.
